Summary

On 18 May 1999 while letting go the ro-ro cargo vessel Sea Centurion in Portsmouth Naval Base, England, a member of the crew was struck by a mooring rope. It was the first time the motorman had carried out an unmooring operation. The rope got caught in a propulsion unit of a tug and was pulled off the ship. The motorman was struck by the end of the rope and forced against a flight of steps. He was severely injured and later pronounced dead at the scene.
